In Washingtonville north of New York City police discovered that a flagpole memorial honoring five firefighters who died in the 911 attacks was taken down.
Early Wednesday police discovered that the flag had been torn down. Apparently vandals had cut the pole about five feet from the base and then wrote a message on the remains of the memorial.
Police have not disclosed what the message said that was written by the vandals.
The Mayor of Washingtonville plans to replace the flag pole and is offering a $3000 reward for information regarding the incident.
This is just one of many monuments that has been destroyed across the country in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
