“Peaceful” protest in Jefferson Square Park in Louisville KY turned deadly on Saturday night when multiple gunshots were fired.
Around 9 pm on Saturday night shots were fired at Jefferson Square Park, killing an adult male. Shortly after the first shots were fired police received a report that additional shots were fired at the Hall of Justice injuring an other man.
“Officers cleared the park completely and have secured the entire area so homicide detectives can conduct their investigation. Detectives are trying to gather as much information as possible in order to identify all who were involved in the incident.”

Protesters have been gathering at Jefferson Square Park for several weeks protesting the death of Breonna Taylor. Mayor Fischer issued a statement about the shootings late Saturday night.
“It is a tragedy that this area of peaceful protest is now a crime scene. My thanks to the first responders who assisted at the scene. I will have more to say tomorrow, as additional information becomes available.”

There was a strong police presence guarding the park last night as the officers tried to maintain peace after the shootings.
