In Northern California doctors have reported that they have seen more deaths from suicide than the coronavirus and are urging Governor Newsom to reopen the state.
Dr. Michael deBoisblanc of John Muir Medical Center is pleading with Governor Newsom to end the stay at home order as the number of suicides during the pandemic is unprecedented.
Dr. Michael deBoisblanc reported that in the past four weeks he has seen a year’s worth of suicides.
“Personally, I think it’s time. I think, originally, this was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that, and our other community health is suffering.”

Nurse Kacey Hansen at John Muir Medical Center agrees with Dr. deBoisblanc’s concerns.
“What I have seen recently, I have never seen before, I have never seen so much intentional injury.”
– Kacey Hansen
The suicide rate across the country has dramatically increased during the coronavirus pandemic as people are experiencing an increase in stress and the lack of resources available to people who are struggling with mental illness.
As governors continue to abuse their power to keep states shut down, it seems they are ignoring some of the bigger consequences that are resulting from their actions.
