In Washington State fourteen inmates at the Yakima County Jail escaped last night. Eight have been captured and six remain on the loose.

The inmate used a table from the annex to break down a fire door to escape from the jail. Initially the jail was unable to identify how many had escaped.

“They decided they were going to break down the door and leave,. Despite the governor’s shelter-in-place or stay-at-home order, apparently they didn’t want to do that so they are out and about.”
– Yakima County Sheriff Robert Udell

Initially a Facebook post from the sheriff’s department stated that twelve inmates had escaped and it was later updated to say eight inmates had been captured and six inmates were still on the loose.

The inmates will most likely be wearing green shirts with the imprint YCDOC and dark sweatpants. They will also be wearing orange sandals or they could be barefoot.

“We need your help to get these guys back in custody cause we don’t know what they’re going to be doing when we haven’t got our eyes on them.”
– Sheriff Robert Udell

Yakima county has 41 people who have either tested positive or are presumed positive for the coronavirus. The sheriff would not comment on whether or not any inmates at the jail had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Law Enforcement is currently working to find the escaped inmates
