A five year old in Bartow County Georgia is deemed a hero after he rescues his sister and dog from a house fire.
Noah Woods woke up Sunday morning to his bedroom that he shared with his sister being on fire. The only way out was through a window. He grabbed his sister and got them both out of the house and then he went back in to rescue the family dog.
He then went next door to where his uncle lives and got him to help save the other members of the household. There was a total of 8 people living in the house.
His bravery helped get everyone out of the home. Noah and four other family member were treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
On Friday there was a ceremony by the fire department to honor Noah and his bravery.
“We’ve seen children alert their families before, but for a 5-year-old to be alert enough to do this … that’s pretty extraordinary.”
“When we train these firefighters, we oftentimes work our whole career without doing a truly life-saving intervention like Noah did. What Noah had done is what we strive our whole career to possibly have the opportunity to [do], make an intervention to save a life during a house fire.”
